Throughout my life, I have continually pursued the very edges of the fence.
Broken down in the middle of nowhere, out of gas and out of road. That is where I liked to be. Because every time I found my way out of that destitute place; I found a new sense of authority within myself.
For a long time, I couldn’t put a finger on why it was I continually found myself in these positions. Bad luck? Destiny? Am I an idiot? Why am I at a junk yard in the valley sourcing parts for a motor a thousand miles from home? I came to realize; we do not suffer by any accident.
I was un-consciously putting myself in these situations to armor myself in the name of self-reliance. I craved it. I loved knowing that I could find a solution to any constraining environment. I was in love with the thrill of being up against a wall; For that was the place that my brain got to fire on all cylinders and come up with creative solutions to complex problems.
However, the looming thought I continually faced was, “where would I be if I didn’t have my iPhone?” It was my lifeline. Without it, I couldn’t have accomplished nearly anything. It was and is the infinite resource that gets me through every situation. It was there to navigate me, provided me with YouTube tutorials, & music for moral. But what would happen if it wasn’t here?
That is the place where Off-Grid Cyberdeck™ is born
Fast Forward to 2022, I’m married, my wife is 7 months pregnant. I no longer live in a van, I have purchased a home, have a stable job, and the chaos of my 20s is rapidly becoming a distant memory. But the challenge of father hood is staring me in the face.
For my wife, it was naturally programmed into her psyche to nest and prepare for our son. However, I was at a loss for what my place was. It seemed like I needed to be doing something urgent, but also it seemed like there wasn’t anything for me to do at all.
I started plotting out a contingency plan. Where is the nearest hospital? If the baby came unexpectedly and, in a hurry, could I take her to the local ambulance dispatch facility and deliver the baby there? What is the fastest route? Is the car always gassed up?
This line of questioning ended up at, “what if medical services are completely down and I have to deliver this baby myself?” I don’t know shit about fuck.
An off-grid repository then seemed like an imminent need. And, after scouring the internet I realized that no such thing existed. So, here I was, getting off work at midnight and staying up till 7, 8, 9am to teach myself how to use Linux to create this tool I needed.
At some point in its creation, I realized it needed to be a product that was available for people everywhere. Children in Myanmar, expecting fathers in Ohio, missionaries in the Amazon; The use case for this type of product is nearly limitless. So, I started expanding the information on deck.
The Off-Grid Cyberdeck™ has around 40 different repositories
All of Wikipedia
Army Medical Pubs
Energy Creation/Laws of Thermodynamics/Chemistry Tables
Food preservation recipes
FEMA water purification advisories
Chinese Medicine tongue diagnosis publications

In addition to the off-grid internet capability that can be streamed and shared with anyone around you via a locally hosted Wi-Fi router, it also has pre-downloaded maps and GPS capability.
Using Open Street Maps (OSM) & Google Maps clients, you can get Topographical, POIs, & Satellite maps all offline & using the included GPS dongle you can get your precise location no matter where you are in the world.
Communication
Using the included SDR dongle and pre-installed programs you can access HF, VHF, & UHF radio signals. Monitor and track ADSB data in real time to see the location of aircraft, listen to local NOAA weather reports & team members all from the device.
It also has CHIRP pre-installed
So, let’s say you’re in the field with your team, you can program all your radios right there in the field so that everyone is in sync with which frequency they’re communicating on. Ultimately improving operational ability and security within the team.
Ultimately, it is just another contingency.
It comes complete with everything you need to get started right out of the box.
The need for modern access to information is undeniable. And, with the uptick in power outages, natural disasters, social un-rest, failing medical and social welfare systems & more; That information we rely on is at risk more than ever.
Off-Grid Cyberdeck™ never needs to be updated. It never needs to be connected to the internet. It is more secure, more reliable, more user friendly than any alternative being offered on the market today and comes in less expensive than a Dell Toughbook.
It is open source; it can be expanded. It is all housed in a pelican 1150, so, it is relatively shock and water resistant; As well as being indistinguishable from any other piece of equipment you may have. Put it in a faraday bag for added EMP protection. Put it in your gun safe or in the office. Take it with you on vacation or leave it in your truck.
Purchase of an Off-Grid Cyberdeck™ comes with exclusive access to the OWNERS Telegram Channel. Which is a collaborative space where questions can be answered, and other owners can share what they’re doing with their device. Its about community and making self-reliance less esoteric.
Going Forward
I am actively developing the Micro-Deck™ that can be thrown in a backpack, dangler, or purse. It has all the same capabilities of the full-size and will be priced slightly lower than the full size to make it more approachable for the thrifty consumer.
Keep up with Off-Grid Cyberdeck™
Don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I am always growing and developing the product.
