On The Radar.

Today marks the first of many On The Radar posts to come. These will be a weekly posting on Wednesday highlighting watches that are on my radar. By that I mean watches that I like on paper and in picture. Because lets face it in todays day and age we live in a heavily digitized market. As brick and mortars are slowly fazed out by the monster competitors with factories and advertising money that would blow their whole budgets out of the water. Unless you are lucky to live near a major city that hosts a watch event you more thank likely wont be able to try on the watch before purchasing. That leaves us to the scientific method of referencing numbers in their dimensions sheet with the watches we have on hand. Combining that along with opinions that can be found online you can make an educated decision on your purchase. Sometimes it doesn't work out in the end and that's just a part of the journey.

These posts will be structured to four time pieces. I will try to keep these to prices that I believe are attainable. They will vary in category but will reflect my tastes and interests. This is an out doors blog as I am an avid outdoors man but that does not stop me from wearing dressier watches. I wear what's proper for the occasion and I don't always need a hearty tool watch on the wrist. I hope that these posts will spotlight some companies you may have not heard of or considered purchasing.

With that said lets get into it.

Number 1. Canister Watches Fieldmaster- This watch is marketed as the ultimate tool watch, and I think they hit they nail on the head. At a size of 41mm this modern take on a field watch is a culmination of all the things we love in a good outdoors tool watch. Keeping with the modern a 50mm lug to lug and a 20mm lug width this doesn't feel like a dainty field watch you think of when you think of a field watch. Beefy and strong this watch looks like it can take a beating and keep going. The case is nice and thick, fully brushed so scratches wont make you tear up like you just stubbed your toe. On this thicc daddy case are two beautiful crown guards that protect the screw down crown. If this was a cage match the Fieldmaster would be the heavy weight champ. Atop the Fieldmaster is a timing bezel with a ceramic insert. At $399 this watch is a great value for dollar. Get yours here at   CanisterWatches.com or you can message them on IG @Canister_Watches.

Number 2. Relio Watches Solstice - For me the Solstice is an excellent take on the Ball Engineer 3, making it a good choice for the budget watch collector. The case shape is nice and clean with that classic sports watch look. One big plus the Relio has over the Ball engineer is the bracelet clap. The Solstice has a classic fold over apposed to the Ball which uses a butterfly clasp. The butterfly clasp can be a headache for people with bigger wrists as they will tend to pop open. The bracelet and watch is fully brushed giving is a very nice consistent look. Another plus for some will be the crown guards, some like them some don't. Regardless I like these as they are not overly done taking focus away from the dial. The Solstice and the Field master are both powered by Miyota 9000 series movements. This is another great deal at $395usd. You can pick one up here at Reliowatches.com .

Number 3. Lorier Falcon Series 3- On paper this watch looks like a very comfortable every day kind of watch. The case is 36mm with a  44mm lug to lug and a very nice 9mm thick. This watch is a tad bit smaller than my FosterWatchCo 11 Atmos which wears really well on bracelet and is easily one of my favorite daily's. This style of watch has slowely become a favorite, the stainless steel smooth bezel sports watches are simple and elegant in their own way. It is the refined tool watch in my eyes, rugged but sleek. Most boast water ratings that are fit for divers so you wont be afraid of a little water. They can be an any occasion watch. This new series 3 has a beautiful textured dial and incorporates the 3 , 6 , and 9. I did not intend this but this watch also has a Miyota 9000 series movement.  These are currently available Pre Order for $499usd, so head over to LorierWatches.com to get your name down for one.

Number 4. Muhle Glashutte Terrasport 2- This flieger style watch is very high on my list. When it comes to fliegers I usually find that they are overly large, and too busy for my taste. For my wrist size I generally go no larger than 42mm and no smaller than 34mm. The Terrasport 2 comes in at 40mm making it a very comfortable fit. The dial is very easy to read with the white text against the black dial. I enjoy the simplicity in the case and lug shapes. The crown looks like it is a good size for its dimensions. I love turning crowns with no crown guards on them. The black dial stainless steel watch is my favorite combo and you might see that often but I will try to keep it mixed. This watch is currently out of stock on Muleglashutteusa.us so we will have to shop around on third party website or sign up for an in stock notification. I know, Big Sad.

That's my weekly on the radar post. Thanks for stopping by.

Stay Deadly.
