Stirling Timepieces Brunt Review.

Today we break down the Stirling Brunt. What we like. What we don’t like. And everything in between.

If you’re not familiar with Stirling, they are a vet owned watch company out of the UK. Check out their site stirlingtimepieces.com for more details. So when I had the opportunity to get one of their watches in I had to accept. Their whole vibe is right up the Recon Team alley. We love the Mil watches and I was looking forward to seeing how it stacked up against some other all black UK Mil watches.

The 42mm  DLC coated 316L case comes in at 12mm tall with 20mm lug width. Inside the heart of the Brunt lies the Swiss Ronda 715 Quartz movement. Though there is an NH35 based option as well. Both in SS and DLC. The DLC coating is nice and consistent through out the whole watch. The case shape is very reminiscent of the skx style of 4 oclock crown. The sides of the case have a nice profile aiding in the weara-bility. The lugs are a nice and thin shape, akin to skin diver styles. The un protected crown protrudes nicely giving it more that enough room to grip and rip. Threads are nice and smooth and time setting is a breeze. The dial being black doesn’t get lost in the DLC due to its sunburst effect. Capturing light. The hands are Silver seconds and hour hand with a nice orange minute hand for easy reading. I’m a big fan of the orange minute hand so this was a great touch. One thing id like to see different is lume on the seconds hand. The Super Luminova works great as expected. Applied to handset, induces, as well as a pip at the 60min position. The bezel action is nice and tactile with very little play.

The watch comes on QD rubber straps with the option of adding the bracelet for an additional $130. The one I was sent came with both rubber and bracelet as well as a NATO strap. After spending time with all three, I think my favorites were the rubber and NATO. The rubber strap is nice and soft with good adjustability for my 6.75in wrist. The bracelet is solid, though there were a few aspects that I would change for my personal taste. First being the outside of the clasp itself is slightly too short. This can often make the bracelet feel wonky due to the internal components being longer. The bracelet itself ends up going over the internals which just doesn’t look or feel right to me. Number two being the adjustability options. There just isn’t enough. The adjustments can be made with a classic spring bar style. Though they’ve only given us two holes for adjustment. At this price point, I really expect more due to the other options in the price range. Let’s take Scurfa for example, their bracelets are $60 and have plenty of adjustability with a great clasp. Again, this is just my taste, I’m sure there are plenty of people who enjoy it.

After wearing the Brunt for a few months it was easy to see why LEO/Mil guys love rocking these on duty. Its a no frills, get shit done watch. I think this is a great option for somone looking for a watch to wear while hunting/adventuring as well. Coming in under $500US, it’s an easy competitor with the CWC SBS, and EB Holton. Both slightly more expensive, and for reason. But all three are essentially the same. Murdered out tool watches. They’ll beat up roughly the same and tell time.

The packaging is on par for price. Comes in a little plastic latch box with foam insert. Nothing that will blow your mind as its going to sit in a closet. But its still a nice touch and will help out if you ever send it to a friend or in for a service. It will be better protected over a cardboard box.

So my final thoughts on the Brunt…. I like it. I think pricing is right on par. Its a great value in the world of “we don’t sit at desks all day” watch crowd. I look forward to the updates that they bring to it like iv seen them doing with other models.

And an absolutely banging honorable mention goes out to the Stirling Time Pieces Compass. Its better than the Sangin Instruments one in every aspect.

Check out Stirling Instagram as well for sick content.

Tomorrow I’ll be attending the Chris Ward event. I’m looking forward to seeing some awesome pieces. Keep an eye on the IG stories, I’ll have some pics of it while I’m there🫶🏼

Thank you Mr.Mack for the Brunt to review.

Justin.
